Dewey Beach Wedding

Work With Me

This Dewey Beach wedding was a joy to photograph.
The sun was out in full force and the clouds were big and puffy, and the wind coming across the bay brought some needed relief from the heat, and kept the flies away.
You can ask for more at an outdoor wedding!

Christine and TJ’s Dewey Beach Wedding

Christine and TJ’s Dewey Beach wedding was on the bayside of Dewey Beach. The couple decided that they didn’t want to have a big wedding with tons of guests but instead opted for a very intimate small wedding with just the closest family members attending. With that goal in mind, the rented a beautiful beach house and invited everyone to stay before and after the festivities.

Where is Dewey Beach? Glad you ask!

Now, you might have never heard of Dewey Beach, and many people don’t know where it is. Most tourists know about Rehoboth Beach, Bethany Beach and Lewes but have no idea where Dewey Beach is.
Dewey Beach is adjacent to Rehoboth Beach and if you close your eyes while on Rt. 1 South leaving Rehoboth, you will miss it. According to Tripadvisor, Dewey Beach is known for its ruckus nightlife and easy-going bohemian feel. However, Dewey Beach also has a quieter more family-oriented part of town and access to Rehoboth Bay.

Getting a Chance to Meet in Person

I always hope to have a chance to meet with my couple a few weeks before the wedding. Unfortunately because of Covid-19, Christine and TJ, who live in Pennsylvania were not able to come to the Eastern Shore until the wedding. So, 2 days before the wedding I took a trip to Dewey Beach to meet with them and discuss their hopes and expectations.

The Definition of Beauty

The first thing Christine told me was how camera shy she was. I think she even told me that she was not “photographable.” She especially didn’t like posed photos of herself.
Honestly, I was taken aback, because, in my opinion, Christine is a natural beauty. She doesn’t even need to wear make-up to look stunning. That is the definition of beauty if you ask me.

This is Going to be Great

We also walked around the beach house, to see where we could photos and then took a quick walk on the beach.
The beach house itself is fantastic with big windows that allowed plenty of light to come through. A nice size deck for the guests to linger and hang out together and a private beach with no tourists to contend with. All in all pretty amazing.
I drove home from our meeting looking forward to Saturday. This Dewey Beach wedding was going to be great!

Wedding Day

Saturday morning started sunny and continued to be beautiful all day. I live about 40 minutes from the beach and although the temperature at my house was in the 90’s, by the time I got to the beach the temperature was near perfect hovering right around 80. 80 degrees with a breeze off the bay. Perfect!

Taking it Easy and Having Fun

When I got to the beach house everyone was completely relaxed and just having a good time. Nobody seemed nervous or anxious. Having your family as your only guests and having everyone staying under one roof helping out, makes for a pretty relaxing wedding. Matter of fact when I walked through the door, JT was sleeping on the couch. You can’t get more chilled than that!

I Do, I Do, I Do

Before we knew it time had come for things to get started. JT and the officiant walked to the beach for the ceremony, and just a few minutes later Christine came down the walk to join TJ.
Christine, who unfortunately lost her day not that long ago, decided to walk down the aisle on her own.
I take my hat off to Christine, walking down the aisle is often the most emotional part of the wedding day, and having to do it all on your own takes incredible strength.

The ceremony was officiated by Taya Diana from http://www.altaredvows.com and it was one of the nicest ceremonies I have attended. If you are looking for an officiant to help you celebrate your vows please reach out to her. I am sure she will be happy to hear from you.

Now for the Fun Part

After the ceremony, we took some pictures of the family, and then we walked out to the beach and just had fun together.

I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed taking them.
